Subject: Sludge Watch ==> Thallium contaminated N-Viro sludge -  another misery to beset rural Nova
Scotia

Dear Mr Younger (Halifax municipal council)

Below is a document where N-Viro explains that they are moving to burning  their sludge/cement kiln dust materials
because there is a declining  market for sludge based 'fertilizer'.  It also explains that they are  experimenting with
burning their sludge mix in Lafarge cement kilns.

The farmers of Nova Scotia have already said they don't want to take   this Lafarge thallium contaminated N-Viro
ammendement on their farms.   The thallium contamination comes from the thallium contaminated cement
kiln dust that comes from Lafarge's Brookfield plant in Nova Scotia.

“ The toluene was skimmed off the top of the contaminated lagoon and the   neighbours watched it go to a
hazmat facility flanked by outrider   vehicles with flashing lights.
The farm pretends to turn the sludge  (which
by now is as thick as concrete slurry at the bottom of the lagoon)  into some kind of 'treated' material by dumping in
lime fines and trying  to 'stir' the thick peanut butter type mixture.  More neighbor illness  ensues as the hazmat alkaline
lime dust is wind carried over the neighboring homes. Burning eyes, burning skin, burning sinuses and lungs.

“The rest of the lagoon is land applied.  More illness.

” The neighbors are gagging, having respiratory problems, and flee their   homes from the smell, when their
Federal Member of Parliament, Bill  Casey, shows up.  That is who helped them convince Halifax to pay to  remove
their sludge from these open air leaky lagoons.  But it was very  hard to find any facility to take it.  At one point it was
even going to  be trucked thousands of miles all the way to waste facilities in Ontario.”
