"SUPER"       Staph bug causes new (Necrotizing) pneumonia
A nasty staph germ circulating in and out of hospitals produces a poison that can kill pneumonia patients
within 72 hours, researchers said on Thursday.

Infections with Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) in U.S.  Hospitals, 1993–2005
Hospital stays for a type of antibiotic-resistant infection have more than tripled since 2000, and since 1995 have
increased nearly 10-fold, according to the latest News and Numbers from the Agency for Healthcare Research and
Quality.

Infants under age one are 6 times more likely to catch the infection than those for patients ages 1 to 17, and twice as
likely as patients ages 18 to 44 years.

Infections with Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) in U.S. Hospitals, 1993–2005 [Excerpt]
This information is based on Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project (HCUP). August 2006. U.S. Agency for Healthcare
Research and Quality documentation from 38 states.

The highest rate of MRSA hospitalization was among the elderly—360.8 MRSA stays per 100,000. This was more than
three times higher than for any other age group: 114.7 stays for infants, 19.2 for 1- to 17-year-olds, 58.1 for 18- to 44-
year-olds, and 111.5 for 45- to 64-year-olds per 100,000 discharges

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)
In 2005, there were 368,300 Hospital stays with methicillin–resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections.
About 1 in 20 (5%) of the MRSA infected individuals died. When MRSA involves soft tissue infections
and progresses to
necrotizing fasciitis (i.e. flesh-eating bacteria syndrome, suppurative fasciitis,
Fournier's  gangrene, and necrotizing erysipelas), the mortality rate increases to as much as 73% for
senor citizens.

WHAT IS NECROTIZING FASCIITIS (MRSA) AND WHY IS IT ON A RAMPAGE THROUGH TUCSON
Several disease organisms fall under the category of flesh eating bacteria. Antibiotic resistant super disease organisms
are creating epidemics worldwide. The literature shows the disease organisms are being transformed in wastewater
treatment plants. The literature also shows the primary route of exposure is through reclaimed water (sewage effluent)
and sludge being spread as a fertilizer on lawns, crops, parks and school grounds.

MRSA IN VIRGINIA
"Now that MRSA has become pandemic sludge permitting authority is being turned over to the
Department of Environmental Quality. Now it appears VDH's mission is to prevent a panic."
